FOX Entertainment’s Web3 technology company aims to shape the future of content creation, distribution, and monetization by connecting creators and communities through blockchain tech. The Interesting Info about xsignal.
Scott Greenberg, co-founder and CEO of Bento Box Entertainment, will become CEO of this new venture, reporting directly to Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier.
Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty) introduces a fresh perspective to blockchain series with his animated comedy Krapopolis, debuting this September on Fox via Blockchain Creative Labs (FOX’s media and tech arm). Viewers can participate by purchasing a Krap Chicken Fan Pass NFT, which unlocks exclusive content, merchandise, and giveaways for viewers.
This show takes place in mythical ancient Greece, where humans, gods, and monsters co-exist peacefully. At its center is a dysfunctional family both relatable and hilariously out of place: Krapopolis King Tyrannis is an intelligent yet gawky intellectual trying to bring his primitive people into modernity (“Cities are going to be huge!” he proclaims), while his mother Deliria wants everyone to worship her while Shlub (played by What We Do in the Shadows’ Matt Berry) cares more about eating and sexual activity than leading his people forward.
Harmon’s shows have long been distinguished by a diverse cast, both comedic and bizarre, that make up its main cast: Hannah Waddingham as Stupendous (a half-cyclops who resorts to violence when solving problems); Duncan Trussell as Hippocampus (a fish-like sea monster that loves dancing with its bronze baby walker); Richard Ayoade as King Richard Ayoade).
As the writer’s strike continues to cause havoc across television, it isn’t easy to find scripted network shows with any sort of fresh and exciting storylines that keep audiences engrossed. One such show that stands out is “Krapopolis,” thanks to its original concept and promise of endless laughs. Harmon’s thematic focus on society management combined with stellar voice talent and an eclectic cast make this series something viewers should keep an eye on.
FOX Entertainment is the latest major television studio to enter the non-fungible token (NFT) space with The MaskVerse, an NFT collection related to Fox’s prime-time series The Masked Singer. Fans can purchase, sell, and trade unique versions of H+ Creative artists’ creations as they create digital versions of The Masked Singer’s mascots that they can buy, sell, trade, and complete a set of collectibles with real prizes available through The Masked Singer website’s FAQ.
NFTs (Frills Tokens) are digital assets created with blockchain technology that can be purchased and traded with ease. Stored within a crypto wallet, NFTs are instantly redeemable for goods or services or transferred directly between wallets at the click of a button – The MaskVerse is part of Fox and its blockchain creative lab’s larger initiative to leverage NFTs as engagement drivers with television shows.
This site launched Wednesday and is free to use; however, users will pay to unlock some of the more desirable characters. The Masked Singer has been offering NFT packs with character cards throughout this season, which can be traded or sold on the site in exchange for real-world prizes or digital rewards; one three-pack costs $20; more packs will become available throughout the season.
Fox is also investing in other projects related to NFTs, such as an animated series by Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon that will live exclusively on blockchain called Krapopolis. Furthermore, they have collaborated with Bento Box Entertainment – known for producing Bob’s Burgers and The Great North, among many other animated shows – in creating Blockchain Creative Labs (BCL), an end-to-end solution designed for content creators and IP owners wishing to leverage NFTs.
BCL collaborated with The Masked Singer in 2021 to establish an NFT-based community where viewers could purchase and collect costumes from the show, along with virtual reality experiences and IRL experiences at SXSW. BCL reported the success of their NFT project, which inspired them to expand their offering into Web3 to allow anyone producing unique digital objects the possibility of sharing them through blockchain-backed systems.
South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual conference that highlights cutting-edge innovations across music, film, and art. This year’s SXSW focused heavily on blockchain and non-fungible tokens (NFTs); attendees could purchase Proof-of-Attendance Protocol cards to document their attendance at shows and screenings, as well as redeem NFTs at its official marketplace.
At 5th and Trinity streets in Austin, SXSW badge holders waited patiently in line for access to Blockchain Creative Labs BCL venue to view its exhibits featuring the future of NFTs, blockchain, and the metaverse.
One such exhibit was an engaging room-scale NFT ledger where SXSW events and moments were exhibited live on a blockchain ledger. When attendees entered this movie set-themed room, they were immersed in transaction data that began to materialize as names of events; soon after that, NFTs started filling empty glass cubes onscreen to demonstrate all of Austin’s activity at once.
SXSW x BCL also presented an audiovisual experiment designed to demonstrate how Non-Financial Tokens (NFTs) can transform relationships between artists and fans; music NFTs were activated via listening experiences, with listeners receiving free digital artwork from musicians they heard about.
Staffers in white lab coats were on hand to assist attendees in setting up mobile wallets so they could access the blockchain to claim and redeem non-fungible tokens (NFTs) at the SXSW x BCL venue. MetaMask, Coinbase, or Rainbow were recommended as NFT wallets; advice was also offered on how best to store and protect private keys. Polygon, the blockchain platform that powers BCL’s minting service, will provide access to its NFT marketplace where festival-goers can claim NFTs or new tokens even after SXSW wraps up in mid-March.
Fox Deportes is America’s favorite Spanish-language sports network, boasting the most comprehensive distribution among its rivals — Univision and ESPN Deportes included — reaching 35 million households nationwide. Fox Media Group is working hard to expand its digital media assets.
Recently, they unveiled Blockchain Creative Labs – a division that uses blockchain technology to bring creators and communities closer together. BCL has already collaborated with the United States Football League on an NFT marketplace platform where USFL players and coaches can sell tokens directly to fans that generate revenues for them, with most going straight back into player salaries or coaching fees.
FOX Deportes is employing this cutting-edge tech to build an exclusive digital marketplace for Dan Harmon’s new animated series KRAPOPOLIS, set in ancient Greece. The show centers around an ensemble cast including humans, gods, and monsters as they attempt to establish one of Earth’s first cities.
Additionally, FOX Deportes will air the livestream digitally on connected devices, and it will also be streamed live using blockchain technology.
Fox Deportes is also exploring virtual reality and 360-degree video production. Recently renovated by Jack Morton Design, its Los Angeles studio space now includes a 1080p HDR-ready stage with three walls of LED that can instantly change to match each show’s branding. Fiber connectivity connects this studio directly with Fox Deportes at Pico, plus there is a control room equipped with EVS playout/edit servers with up to four ingest channels (up to 100TB capacity), Vizrt graphics engines, etc.
FOX Deportes will commemorate National Hispanic Heritage Month by debuting Lopez Alvarez’s Somos El Futuro (“We Are the Future”) NFT collection this National Hispanic Heritage Month; these tokens honor and celebrate Hispanic culture’s innovative futurescape and will be available for sale this summer on partner OTT platforms such as AT& T TV Now and FuboTV.
