IEM Charter School CEO Jodi Jones

IEM provides parents with an innovative solution to their educational and social-emotional needs by offering their children direct instruction from highly qualified ESs in an interactive online classroom setting. We caught up with CEO Jodi Jones to gain more insight into IEM.

Network and combinatorial optimization models and algorithms with mathematical foundations, graph theory, duality theory, shortest paths, and min-cost flows, P versus NP analysis, local search methods, and Christofides algorithm are also covered. Previously, this course was offered under IEM 6013.

Learning Specializations

Students will enjoy state-of-the-art campus infrastructure, including a world-class cafeteria, gymnasium, student mall and library facilities, banking services, and medical care to meet daily needs, as well as scholarships and financial support to help them reach their goals.

This program will equip students with the knowledge and abilities required for success in media design’s ever-evolving environment. Our curriculum is designed to ensure graduates possess all of the tools needed to adapt quickly and efficiently to industry changes, as well as develop technologies to elevate media design to higher levels of quality and productivity.

Utilizing both core engineering coursework and discipline-specific entrepreneurship courses, students will learn all aspects of running a successful business. Through an intensive team-driven company design project that simulates real-world startups and connects students with CEOs from Birmingham companies to understand how innovative ideas should be translated to reality. Furthermore, an additional 15-credit specialization in international education management (IEM) gives them additional insights.

Learner Dashboard

Learner dashboards are interactive tools designed for learners to gain a holistic overview of their learning journey and progress, helping them better understand the impact of their choices in an evidence-driven fashion. A learner dashboard can assist learners in making more informed decisions to achieve their learning goals more quickly; additionally, it is an invaluable way to introduce learning analytics in any learning environment.

Learners may use a dashboard to keep an overview of their grade progression, course and activity information, and any related tasks or achievements. A typical learner dashboard would combine line charts of course grades with tabular reports of passage as well as tabled activities by course – all of which can be easily filtered to display only relevant results.

Studies evaluating learner dashboards through qualitative investigation and usability analysis have conducted qualitative investigations on their effectiveness, concluding that learners prefer interactive and user-friendly visualizations of their learning performance, such as line graphs displaying grade progression or tables of course and activity information. Users also appreciate being able to customize their dashboard so as to see only information that matters.

An essential feature of a learner dashboard is including news and announcement widgets to notify learners about upcoming training events, new content uploaded onto the system, or other significant announcements. This feature can be especially beneficial to busy learners who may not have time to explore all the learning metrics displayed.

Learner dashboards can also feature leaderboards and badges that encourage learners to engage with the platform actively, thus staying active throughout their learning journey. In addition, search options allow them to quickly locate courses, learning paths, or resources within the system.

Learner dashboards can also include predictive and prescriptive analytics that give learners more insight into their performance. Predictive analytics is located in the first panel of their dashboard and demonstrates their overall prediction for meeting learning goals based on current progress; this is then contrasted with their cohort’s prediction via box-and-whisker plot so learners can quickly inspect how far it deviates from the class norm.

Enrolling in a Specialization

IEM provides students with a stimulating and diverse educational experience in a highly supportive atmosphere. Beyond the core curriculum, students at IEM benefit from opportunities such as immersive travel experiences abroad or local events to become global citizens.

Students enrolled in IEM programs can select from three specializations – Business, Technology, and Management. Additionally, elective courses allow them to customize their educational experience further while helping to build the necessary skills and knowledge for success in any chosen field.

QQI has introduced the International Education Mark (IEM mark) to ensure international learners receive high-quality education programs from IEM providers who comply with applicable codes of practice. The mark will be available to higher education (HE) and English language teaching (ELE) providers who fulfill eligibility criteria.

QQI will award IEM marks after an extensive assessment process that requires providers to submit self-assessment reports and supporting documentation to assessors for review and submission to them; assessors will then produce reports which they share with providers who can review, respond and address findings as part of a shared report from QQI; IEM marks will be introduced sometime early 2020.

Students enrolled in this course will explore the core principles of industrial engineering with an emphasis on statistical learning models to tackle real problems encountered in industry, including linear and nonlinear regression analysis, mixed effects modeling, clustering methods, generalized additive models, tree-based methods, support vector machines, bayesian methods. Furthermore, students will explore the relationships between industrial engineering and quality control.

This course provides practical, hands-on experience in designing and implementing projects with faculty members and international education mentors in groups. As the capstone experience, it draws from all areas of the curriculum while giving you a chance to apply what you’ve learned – making the project invaluable in building professional networks and gaining real-world experience. In addition, students may opt for an optional internship placement outside the university setting.

Subscribing to a Specialization

IEM is an innovative education technology company that designs and operates charter schools. Their organization specializes in providing personalized learning plans to each student to help them meet their academic goals and realize their full potential. IEM also delivers multiple tools, resources, and programs for its students while helping teachers and parents better understand how learning occurs. Recently, we met up with IEM CEO Jodi Jones in order to learn more about their unique approach to education.

Our interactive tool to observe instructor and student behaviors in a learning environment was inspired by STROBE (Self-Report Teacher Behavior Observation). The device records instructor behavior as well as four randomly selected students in 5-minute cycles and scores them based on how their contributions to active learner engagement impacted functional learner engagement levels; higher scores indicate more in-class student engagement.

For our evaluation, we observed classes using large lecture format (LLC), small class formats (LSC) with fifth-year students, and case-based teaching sessions (CBT). The results indicate that the IEM tool can be used to observe instructor and student behaviors within learning environments and also determine which class type best facilitates student engagement.

This tool is easy to use and provides valuable information about instructors and students. Learners can identify potential areas for improvement – an essential part of their learning experience. In addition, instructors can use it to identify any issues that might impede the provision of quality instruction.

IEM will increase confidence among international learners enrolled in programs offered by providers with accreditation from ACELS-accreditation to receive quality and consistent learning experiences. Although IEM is non-statutory in its application, QQI will consult with existing ACELS providers regarding an orderly transition process to help ensure an equitable experience for them as they transition.
