The Village Early Learning Center

13

Our center employs a high-scope curriculum to foster children’s curiosity, creativity, and independence. Enrichments like baby signing can enhance communication, music can aid focus, and our designated calming corner offers children a safe place when emotions become too much to handle.

Harper believes it takes a village to raise children. She works to increase local awareness, connect early childhood professionals, and educate families.

Located in the heart of Southern Village

Southern Village, a New Urbanism neighborhood located in Chapel Hill’s dynamic topography, boasts traditional and craftsman-style homes with lush landscaping. Its streets wind around Chapel Hill’s topographical changes and allow homeowners to invest in whole home renovations with increased resell value.

Discovery Village is an elite child care center and preschool that provides exceptional full-time care to children aged six weeks to five years in an environment designed to foster learning, curiosity, creativity, independence, and social skills. Families conveniently located in Southern Village benefit from access to local amenities such as the town park, shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools offer residents top-tier educations at Mary Scroggs Elementary, Culbreth Middle, and Carrboro High Schools – recently honored as one of the country’s best high schools. Furthermore, residents enjoy access to Fan Branch Trail – commonly referred to as a greenway that runs through their community.

Union-Village KinderCare Learning Center features an inviting design with enhanced safety protocols to protect our little ones. Take a virtual tour and meet Kashmir Shaffer, Center Director. We look forward to welcoming you there soon!

Biometric Fingerprint Recognition System

Biometric fingerprint recognition systems use sensors to take an image of someone’s fingerprints and then compare it against pre-scanned ones to verify their identity. Such methods can be employed for access control and security applications in the workplace and two-factor authentication when accessing mobile banking services; some companies even utilize fingerprint scanners so employees don’t have to enter PIN codes when using company computers.

Fingerprints provide unique physical identification that cannot be stolen or duplicated, leaving an imprint of the ridges and valleys on each finger’s surface. Fingerprints may be scanned and stored digitally; however, only specific characteristics (such as minutiae ) that form part of their overall fingerprint pattern will be saved in their entirety.

Minutia-based matches require large amounts of data to store all possible minutia pairs, which will then be analyzed to find the ideal matching candidate and verified to determine whether or not it’s valid. Unfortunately, due to storage limitations and costs, this may not always be a perfect solution; thus, some researchers have tried simplifying this process using techniques such as thinning algorithms and false removal approaches, which reduce the features necessary for matching while improving performance.

High-Definition Video Cameras

Each classroom includes a biometric fingerprint recognition system to provide secure entry, while windows along hallways enable non-intrusive monitoring of activities. Furthermore, teachers and administrators do not release children to unapproved adults; all activity is recorded for your child’s protection.

Discovery Village provides your child with all they need for growth and success today and in the future: an inviting village atmosphere, artistic endeavors in an art studio, and a science lab are just some of the amenities our full-time childcare and preschool center has to offer. Catering for children aged six weeks to five years, Discovery Village’s full-time childcare and preschool center provides your little one with nurturing environments and educational learning experiences designed to promote growth and future success.

At age two and up, students can use technology with parental co-viewing to foster active family engagement and active family learning. Younger children, however, are discouraged from technology use to facilitate social interactions and bonding; however, video chatting software allows families to contact relatives far away.
