Educate Girls
Educate Girls is an education non-profit in India dedicated to giving out-of-school adolescent girls another opportunity to attend school. Their approach blends technology with an empathic, human-centric approach at the programmatic level. This program uses a Prerak to identify permanently dropped-out adolescent girls and women in their community, enroll them in government-open schools, and help prepare them for exams by conducting village-based learning camps. Additionally, this scholarship grants them coverage for school fees and educational expenses. A 10th certificate offers life-changing potential to adolescent girls and their families; unfortunately, too often, this opportunity is denied due to factors like early marriage, family pressures, or limited access to education, as well as financial constraints.
In addition to scholarships, Educate Girls offers mentoring and coaching programs for female technical education students who are interested in the tech sector. These programs include providing them with training in technical skills as well as helping them find internships to build their resumes. Furthermore, this mentorship opportunity connects girls interested in the sector with fellow students and professionals working within it.
Educate Girls has developed a holistic, life-altering model to empower girls to become independent and confident women. Their scalable, sustainable, and replicable model has shown to be effective at changing lives for the better – it was built around the concept that education can break the cycle of poverty within societies; their evaluation framework incorporates both qualitative and quantitative data measures student outcomes while tracking impactful changes to individual lives.
The goal of this evaluation is to assist educators in understanding what is working and how they can enhance their practices. The evaluation tool has been carefully developed so that it is flexible enough to meet varying contexts; teachers will be able to track both their own and students’ progress against Educate Girls program standards and benchmarks, with results shared publicly so other organizations may replicate similar approaches towards supporting adolescent girls’ education in India.
